Bill customers at lightning speed with the touch-friendly Point of Sale. It is the fastest way to sell in vFile — ideal for counters, shops and busy service points. Open it at vfile.app/pos/create.
Making a sale #
- Search or scan a product to drop it into the cart. Adjust quantity, price or discount where allowed.
- Select the customer (or leave it as walk-in). Their price group and balance load automatically.
- Check the totals, click Pay, choose the method, enter the amount and finalise.
Handy features #
- Multiple payment methods on one sale, suspend a bill, or save a draft/quotation without touching stock.
- Print the receipt instantly, or let vFile send a WhatsApp confirmation.
Worked example #
A customer, Rana, walks in to buy seed.
- You scan Corn AG 603 twice — 2 bags at ₨5,000 each, so ₨10,000.
- You select Rana so the sale ties to his account.
- You give a ₨500 discount, bringing it to ₨9,500.
- You click Pay, choose Cash, enter ₨9,500, and finalise. The receipt prints and a WhatsApp confirmation can go to Rana.
Had he paid only ₨6,000, the sale would finalise as Partial with ₨3,500 due on his account.
What this affects #
- Stock — 2 bags are deducted immediately.
- Customer ledger — the ₨9,500 sale and payment post to Rana’s ledger; a partial payment leaves a due.
- Payment account — your Cash account rises by ₨9,500.
- Profit & sales reports — the sale is counted, using the ₨4,000 cost per bag.
- A draft or quotation does none of the above until finalised.
Frequently asked questions #
What is the difference between walk-in and a named customer?
A named customer ties the sale to their ledger, so dues and history are tracked. A walk-in is a quick anonymous sale.
Can I take part cash and part card?
Yes — add multiple payment methods on the same sale.
What if the customer wants to pay later?
Enter a smaller (or zero) payment; the balance stays as a due on their account.
How do I hold a bill and serve someone else?
Use Suspend to park the bill, then resume it later.
