What is a combo product? #
A combo (bundle) product is a single sellable item made up of several other products. When you sell one combo, vFile automatically reduces the stock of each component item inside it.
Combos are useful for gift packs, deal offers, kits, or any set of items you regularly sell together at one price.
Creating a combo #
- On Add Product, set the type to Combo.
- Add the component products and the quantity of each per bundle.
- Set the combo’s selling price (it can be less than the sum of the parts for a deal).
Worked example #
You offer a “Kitchen Garden Kit” that bundles three items.
- You create a combo product Kitchen Garden Kit.
- You add its components: 1 x Tomato Seed Pack, 1 x Chilli Seed Pack, 1 x Small Fertiliser Bag.
- Individually these are ₨250 + ₨200 + ₨400 = ₨850, but you set the kit’s selling price at ₨750 as a deal.
- When a customer buys one kit, vFile deducts one of each component from stock, and the sale records ₨750.
What this affects #
- Component stock — each item inside the kit drops by its bundle quantity in the Stock Report.
- Availability — the kit can only be sold while all its components are in stock.
- Profit — component costs are used, so the kit’s margin is calculated correctly even at the discounted price.
Frequently asked questions #
Do I keep separate stock for the combo itself?
No. A combo is not stocked directly — its availability depends entirely on the stock of its components.
Can a component also be sold on its own?
Yes. Components are normal products; they can be sold individually and as part of the combo.
What if one component runs out?
The combo cannot be sold until you restock that component.
