What are price groups? #
Selling price groups let you keep more than one selling price for the same product — for example a Retail price and a Wholesale price. The right price is applied automatically depending on the customer.
Setting up #
- Go to vfile.app/selling-price-group and add groups such as Wholesale or Dealer.
- Open each product and enter the price for every group (or set it as a percentage of the default).
- On a customer’s contact record, choose their default price group.
Worked example #
You sell to walk-in customers at retail, but dealers get a lower rate.
- You create a price group Dealer.
- On Corn AG 603, the retail price is ₨5,000; you set the Dealer price to ₨4,700.
- You open your dealer Malik Farm Store and set their price group to Dealer.
- Next time you bill Malik, the ₨4,700 price loads automatically — no need to remember or type it. A walk-in customer still pays ₨5,000.
What this affects #
- The price on a sale — the correct tier loads automatically for that customer, reducing pricing mistakes.
- Profit — because each tier has its own price, your profit reports reflect the real margin per customer type.
- You can still override the price on a single sale if you need to.
Frequently asked questions #
What if a customer has no price group?
They simply get the product’s default (retail) selling price.
Can I set a whole group as a percentage off?
Yes — you can define a group price as a percentage of the default instead of typing each price.
Can I still give a one-off special price?
Yes, you can change the price on an individual sale line, if your permissions allow it.
