The Projects module helps service and delivery businesses organise work into projects and tasks — with team assignments, time tracking and client billing all in one place.
Creating a project #
Start a project at vfile.app/project. Give it a name, a client contact, start and end dates, and a budget if you track one. Add the team members involved.
Tasks, time logs & billing #
Break the work into tasks with owners and due dates; staff record time logs against them; and you turn completed work or logged time into an invoice for the client.
Worked example #
You take on a project — Website for Al-Noor Traders — with a ₨150,000 budget and a deadline of 30 April. You add tasks like Design, Development and Testing, assign them to your team, and they log their hours as they work. When the site is delivered, you raise an invoice to Al-Noor Traders for ₨150,000 and receive payment.
What this affects #
- A project and its tasks affect nothing financial on their own — they are planning and tracking records.
- Time logs feed the project and employee reports, showing effort.
- Raising the project invoice is a normal sale: it posts to the client’s ledger, and the payment lands in your payment account.
Frequently asked questions #
Does creating a project charge the client anything?
No. A project is planning only. The client is charged when you raise an invoice from it.
Can I bill a client by the hours worked?
Yes — staff time logs can be turned into a time-based invoice.
Where do project earnings show up?
Once invoiced, they appear in your sales and Profit & Loss reports like any sale.
