Quick answer: Add customers under Customers (or +New on the POS). When a registered customer pays less than the bill, the balance goes to their due and is logged in the customer ledger. Use Receive Payment to clear the due later.
Adding customers #
Open Customers and click + Add Customer. Enter name, phone and address, and an opening due if they already owe something. You can also add a customer on the fly from the POS with + New.
How credit (due) works #
When a registered customer pays less than their bill, the balance is added to their due automatically and recorded in the ledger. Walk-in customers cannot carry a due. The current balance is shown as Outstanding Due.
Receiving a payment #
Open the customer and use Receive Payment to record cash they pay against their due. The due reduces and the payment appears in the ledger.
The ledger and bill-by-bill view #
Each customer page shows a Ledger of credit added and payments received, plus a bill-by-bill table of how much each bill added to the due, with a link to its receipt, so you can tell a customer exactly which bills are pending.
Worked example: a regular on credit #
Mr. Adnan has a bill of Rs 7,560 and pays nothing today. You attach his account and save with 0 paid, so Rs 7,560 goes to his due and shows against that bill in the ledger. Next week he pays Rs 5,000: open his page, use Receive Payment for 5,000, and his Outstanding Due drops to Rs 2,560. The ledger shows the credit bill and the Rs 5,000 received.
Frequently asked questions #
Can I see which specific bills a customer still owes? #
Yes. The bill-by-bill table on the customer page shows each bill’s total, paid and credit (due) amount with a receipt link.
Why does a 0-paid bill show as credit, not paid? #
Because the full amount became the customer’s due. It is a closed credit sale recorded in the ledger, not a paid bill.
Can a walk-in customer take credit? #
No. Attach a registered customer to allow a due.
