Few things are more frustrating than a PECTA photo not uploading when you are trying to complete your application before the deadline. The Punjab Examination Commission portal is strict about the photo, and it rejects anything that does not match the exact rules. The good news: almost every upload error comes from one of four causes, and all of them are quick to fix.

Why your PECTA photo is not uploading

If the form throws an error or simply will not accept your image, check these four things in order:

1. The file is too big

This is the number one cause. PECTA needs the photo to be between 10 KB and 25 KB. A normal phone photo is 2 MB to 6 MB, which is far too large. You must compress it down.

2. The dimensions are wrong

The photo must be 600 x 800 pixels (portrait). If your image is landscape, square, or smaller than this, the portal rejects it. Selfies and gallery photos are rarely the right shape.

3. The format is not JPG

PECTA accepts JPG / JPEG only for the final upload. Many phones now save photos as PNG, WEBP, or HEIC. These will not upload and must be converted to JPG first.

4. The photo is blurry or too compressed

If you shrink the file too aggressively to hit 25 KB, it becomes grainy and can be rejected for poor quality. The goal is the right size and a sharp face, at the same time.

If the photo meets every spec and still will not upload, the issue is usually the portal itself: try a different browser, clear your cache, or upload during off-peak hours when the site is less busy. Also confirm your internet connection is stable, since a dropped upload can look like a rejected photo.
