# Kitchen Display and KOT Printing

**Quick answer:** The kitchen display shows every fired order live with its items and notes. The KOT (kitchen order ticket) prints a large table number for dine-in, or a token for takeaway and delivery, so orders are never mixed up.

## The kitchen display

Open **Kitchen** on a screen in the kitchen. New orders appear as the counter fires them, with items, modifiers and any notes. Staff can mark items or orders as prepared so the line stays organised during a rush.

## The KOT slip

When the counter sends an order, a kitchen order ticket (KOT) prints. To avoid mix-ups it shows a **large table number** for dine-in, or a **token number** for takeaway and delivery, then the items, add-ons, special notes and the waiter name.

## Only new items are sent

If the counter adds items to an order already fired, the next KOT prints only the **newly added** items, so the kitchen never remakes what it already has.

## Example: two orders at once

Table F3 orders 1 Mutton Karahi and 3 Naan; a takeaway customer orders 2 Chicken Rolls. The kitchen gets two slips: one headed **TABLE F3** and one headed **TAKEAWAY TOKEN 14**. Later F3 adds 1 more Naan; the new slip shows only "1 Naan", so the kitchen does not remake the karahi.

## Printing

Print tabs close automatically after printing, keeping screens clean.

## Frequently asked questions

### How does the kitchen know which table an order is for?

The KOT prints the table number in large text at the top for dine-in; takeaway and delivery show a token number.

### Will the kitchen see items added later?

Yes, but only the newly added items print, so nothing is cooked twice.
