# Getting Started with the Restaurant POS: Login, Roles and Dashboard

**Quick answer:** Open your restaurant's web address, log in with the username and password you were given, and you land on the dashboard. What you can do depends on your role: Admin (full control), Cashier (POS and register), Waiter (table orders), or Kitchen (kitchen screen).

## What is the TecniForge Restaurant POS?

The TecniForge Restaurant Management System is a complete restaurant POS that runs in any web browser on a computer, tablet or phone. It handles dine-in, takeaway and delivery orders, tables, the kitchen display, billing, inventory, customers, staff and reports from one screen. There is nothing to install.

## How do I log in?

1. Open your restaurant's web address, for example `https://yourname.tecniforge.com`.
2. Enter the username and password you were given and click **Login**.
3. Bookmark the address on the counter device and the kitchen screen so staff reach it in one tap.

The app is built for low-internet venues: the menu and tables are cached on the device, so the screen stays fast and only transactions sync in the background.

## What can each user role do?

| Role | What they can do |
| --- | --- |
| **Admin** | Full day-to-day control: POS, menu, customers, inventory, purchases, staff, reports, and adding other users. |
| **Cashier (Main Counter)** | Opens the register, takes and settles orders, prints receipts, verifies waiter drafts and fires the kitchen ticket (KOT). |
| **Waiter** | Takes orders at the table (including the table QR). Waiter orders are saved as a draft for the counter to verify. Must clock in first. |
| **Kitchen** | Sees the kitchen screen and incoming kitchen tickets. |

## The dashboard at a glance

After login you land on the dashboard. It shows today's sales and order count, with quick links to the POS, Orders, Reports and every module in the left sidebar. The current software version is shown at the bottom of the sidebar.

## Example: setting up a new cashier

Say you hire a cashier named Bilal at Kababish. As Admin you open **Users**, add "Bilal" with a username and password and the **Cashier** role, and save. Bilal logs in on the counter tablet, opens a register with the morning float (for example Rs 2,000), and can immediately take orders and print receipts. He cannot see settings or delete data, because those are outside the cashier role.

## Adding staff logins

An Admin adds staff from **Users**: name, username, password and role. For daily-wage or monthly salary staff, set the wage type and rate here or in the Salary module. For any advanced setup or change, contact TecniForge Support.

## Frequently asked questions

### Do I need to install anything?

No. The Restaurant POS runs in a web browser on any device. Just open the address and log in.

### Can two people use it at the same time?

Yes. The counter, waiters and the kitchen screen can all be logged in together, each seeing what their role allows.

### I forgot my password. What do I do?

Ask your Admin to reset it from the Users page, or contact TecniForge Support.
